Top 5 wired cycle computers
Independent reviews • Best prices • Fast and free delivery
Wired bike computers tend to be the most cost-effective way to measure you speed, distance and journey time. As they are hard-wired between the wheel and the handlebar unit, you also get a really reliable signal too.
1. Cateye Strada Cadence Wired Computer
high tech
Review
The Cateye Strada Cadence has all the features you’d expect from your bike computer – speed, average speed, trip distance and time – but it also measures your cadence via a neat little sensor and magnet that are fitted on the chainstay and your crank. If you’ve never measured cadence before and want to know why you should, Cateye simply explain: Your legs are the engine and the Strada Cadence is your tachometer – in other words it lets you know how well the engines running, and makes sure it’s not underperforming or overheating.
All this technology comes packaged in Cateye’s immensely popular and easy to use Strada unit. It’s as easy to fit as it is to use, requiring no tools.

2. Code 1 11 Function Computer
top bargain
Review
The Code 1 11-function computer really packs the features into its budget casing. It measures all the usual suspects, plus it’ll estimate calories burned and rate per minute. If you’re the indecisive type/data junkie you can even set it to scan through all the options as you ride.
Because of its large screen size, durable nature and big buttons, this value computer makes a good first computer for kids, to get them up to speed.

3. Specialized Speedzone Sport Computer
Review
The Specialized Speedzone Sport is a neat, square compact unit, but its sleek set-up has plenty of functionality. It’ll wake up on its own when you start riding, meaning it’s totally hassle free once you’ve got it all set up.
The digits on the display are absolutely huge, so it’s easy to read at speed and it takes the work out of measuring by waking up and starting to count on its own accord. The standout feature is the bracket, though – you can adjust it to get the viewing angle just right.

4. Blackburn Atom SL Wired Computer
Review
The Blackburn Atom SL is a distinctive little computer unit, with its space-age angles that mirror the shapes of Blackburn’s light range. It does mean there’s loads of room for the large, split button below the screen, though, which makes it easy to use even if you’ve got gloves on.
Fitting is a doddle too – two zip ties for the head unit bracket, rubber bands for the sensor, and you’re done. We particularly liked the alternative, slightly gothic shape of the displayed numerals.

5. Giant Axact 6 Wired Cycling Computer
Review
The Giant Axact is a minimalist little computer that still manages to be rich in features. If you fail to notice it on your bars thanks to its streamlined silhouette, not to worry, as it starts and stops automatically. It’s a nice fitness accessory as it estimates calorie consumption as well as all the usual variables.
In true minimalist style, there’s just one large button to operate it, so it’s another easy-to-use unit if you’re riding hard or wearing gloves, or both.
