The Specialized Epic HT Comp rewrites what you can expect from a carbon hardtail. Yes, it’s incredibly light – in fact, the FACT 11m carbon frame is one of the lightest production hardtail frames available – but the Epic HT isn’t just about chasing grams. It’s about delivering real-world speed on the trails with added control, comfort and confidence.
Developed with progressive XC geometry, the Epic HT Comp is longer, lower and slacker than traditional XC bikes, making it more stable at speed and more composed through technical sections. Specialized have also engineered vertical compliance into the frame to reduce rider fatigue over long distances – ideal for marathon events or full-on XC races.
Up front, the RockShox SID SL fork with its Rush RL damper and Debon Air spring offers 100mm of finely tuned travel to take the edge off rooty, rutted trails. It’s lightweight and responsive, designed specifically for cross-country performance.
The drivetrain is built around SRAM’s S-1000 Eagle Transmission system, offering wireless 12-speed shifting via the AXS POD Controller. With a massive 10-52T range and the latest in drivetrain integration, it delivers smooth, precise gear changes even under pressure.
Braking is handled by SRAM Level Bronze hydraulic disc brakes, providing reliable power in a lightweight package. The wheels are Specialized 29” rims, tubeless-ready with 27mm inner width, wrapped in a Fast Trak T7 front and Renegade T5 rear tyre combo for grip and speed across a variety of surfaces.
Thoughtful frame features like internal cable routing, threaded bottom bracket, UDH compatibility and dropper-post readiness round out a race-ready package that doesn’t skimp on long-term reliability or future upgrades.
Whether you’re racing XC, hitting the local trails or just pushing your limits, the Epic HT Comp is a fast, capable and impressively comfortable carbon hardtail.
