The Boardman MTR 9.0 Full Suspension Mountain bike is the flagship bike in the range, earning its 9 Series status thanks to an upgraded X9 Alloy frame with stunning paint fade and hidden welds with an uncompromising specification. A RockShox Pike Select fork offers 150mm of supple but progressive travel. Its plush Charger RC damper and stiff but light 35mm chassis keep the front wheel planted and on line. This is paired with a custom-tuned Deluxe Select+ rear shock with lock out and rebound adjustment, soaking up trail chatter without blowing through the 145mm travel.

Boardmans brand new 29er platform with 145mm travel and trail-ready geometry is paired with 140 or 150mm forks and can take on rough and technical trails without being a burden on flatter, flowy sections. Longer reach figures, a slackened 66 degree head angle and custom-tuned, long-stroke RockShox shocks deliver composed handling and supple yet supportive suspension action whilst maintaining agility and pedalling efficiency.
Shifting is courtesy of Shimano’s 12-speed SLX groupset with a 10-51t cassette giving crisp shifting and huge range – long steep climbs are no problem with this set up. Braking is also taken care of with Shimano SLX 4-piston calipers combined with 203/180mm rotors front and rear delivering plenty of power with outstanding modulation.
A 2.5” Maxxis Minion DHF up front with a 2.4” DHRII at the back are a go-to pairing for loose and technical terrain. These tubeless ready, tan-wall tires are paired with WTB ST-i30 TCS rims on Shimano hubs which come pre-taped for tubeless set up with valves in the box – just add sealant to take advantage of the better grip and fewer punctures which come from ditching inner tubes.
780mm bars paired with a 45mm stem keep the steering responsive but easy to control. Completing the package is a Satori Sorata Pro dropper post with 125mm travel on size M, and 150mm travel on L and XL sizes, meaning the Fizik Taiga saddle is tucked well out of the way when attacking steep descents.
