MTB Handlebars

MTB handlebars are unique to mountain biking and are wider than road or hybrid handlebars. They generally come is two varieties: flat bars and riser bars. Flat handlebars are often found on XC bikes, where a lower position is sought after. Riser handlebars are found on trail bikes all the way up to downhill bikes where a more upright position is desired.

Mountain bike handlebars can differ in a number of ways. Handlebar width varies depending on riding style and preference, with downhill bars going as wide as 810mm, while Trail often sit around 740mm and XC a little narrower than that. The amount of rise and degree of backsweep can also be factors in choosing handlebars. Carbon handlebars are popular for their lighter weight, but aluminium alloy handlebars are the most numerous.
