Specialized's Fastest Bike Yet
After eight generations and over two decades of development, the Tarmac SL8 is the most aerodynamic road bike Specialized has ever made. A streamlined approach to the front of the frame and headtube/fork area ensures clean airflow with no interruptions. Over a 40km distance, this new frame is up to 16.6 seconds faster than the previous SL7 model.
Aero Where it Matters
The SL8 has the narrowest, most aero seat tube Specialized have made ensuring fast moving airflow. The bottom bracket area is very much inspired by the Aethos, which improves the overall responsiveness and smooth ride quality. This new model is a pleasant blend of the traditional road bike with the new Aero racing machine.
A New Lightweight Frame
The new frame is an impressive 685g, making the SL8 the current lightest frame on the World Tour. The pro cyclists, amateur racers and those that want to ride fast all day long, look no further. With a lighter and more aerodynamic ride you will be able to ride more efficiently and save more energy, meaning more power and speed when you need it. This model equipped with Shimano Dura-ace Di2 weighs just 6.6kg. Weight does vary based on the particular size, model and specifications.
Smooth Ride Quality
Another area Specialized focused on in the development phase was the ride quality. With an amazing 33% improved stiffness-to-weight ratio and 6% improved handling, the Tarmac SL8 delivers a sublime ride. Every stamp on the pedals is rewarded with smooth speed, and ensures rapid acceleration especially when sprinting out of corners or kicking out the saddle.
Rapide Cockpit
The Rapide integrated cockpit is another watt saving feature that shaves off four watts of drag compared to the two-piece design. This version is also 50g lighter than previous versions, adding to the overall weight savings. In addition to the weight savings, this cockpit design is incredibly comfortable and ensures every rider can get their perfect position.
Roval Rapide Wheels
Combining a 50mm deep-section rim and the lightness you’d expect with a shallower climbing wheel, the Rapide CLX 2 wheelset delivers maximum speed on all road terrain. With ceramic SINC bearings and DT Swiss hubs, these wheels roll fast. Also included is the Specialized crash replacement policy, meaning they will be repaired or replaced, no questions asked.
