Wall, floor and ceiling mounted bike rack and hooks are a convenient way to store your bike/s in your home, garage or shed. The best type for you will depend on the type of bike as well as the space you have available.
If you don’t have space indoors then a bike cover will protect it from the elements when stored outside.
Floor Mounted Racks and Stands
These free-standing racks come in four types:
Wheel stands – support the bike by the wheel. Before you buy check that the stand is compatible with your bikes wheel diameter (e.g. 700c or 27.5”) and tyre width (e.g. 28mm or 2.3”).
Axle stands – support the bike by the axle or chainstays. Check that the stand is compatible with your axle type (e.g. Quick Release) before you buy.
Crankset and bottom bracket stands – small and portable these stands support the bike by the crankset or bottom bracket. Usually only hollow cranksets are compatible with crankset stands.
Top tube hook stands – support the bike/s by the top tube. Compatible with all bikes that have a standard straight top tube. Step through frames and some full suspension MTBs won’t fit.
Wall Mounted Racks and Hooks
These hooks and racks fix to a wall or door and hold the bike in one of two ways:
Wheel holding – store the bike vertically holding it in place by the front wheel. These racks work with most types of bike as they are compatible with A wide variety of wheel sizes and tyre widths.
Frame holding - store the bike horizontally holding it in place by the top tube. These racks are suitable for bikes with a standard straight top tube. Step through frames and some full suspension MTBs won’t fit.
Ceiling Mounted Racks
If you have enough head room in your storage space then a ceiling mounted bike rack will free up a lot of space. These storage solutions take a bit more effort to set up but they can make use of space that other systems can’t access.
Bike Covers
If you don’t have room in a garage or shed and have to store your bike outside a bike cover is an easy and convenient way to protect it from the worst of the elements. Designed for single or multiple bikes these covers work well with road and hybrid bikes but some don’t work so well with mountain bikes that have wide handle bars.
