The Dawes Discovery is a comfortable urban commuter designed for daily use during the week, and then a little more adventurous riding on the weekend. Tarmac, pavements, towpaths and forest tracks are all par for the course with this stylish hybrid.
Purpose built as a commuter there are mudguard and carrier points for increased utility. The frame is strong and designed to last, and the geometry puts you into an easy upright position with clear visibility for navigating around busy rush hour traffic.
It’s worth noting all the bikes in this range are eligible for purchase through Cycle to Work, so you can save even more money. Starting from just £220 they make excellent first bikes for beginners wanting comfort.

Flatbar comfort and confidence
All the Dawes Discovery bikes come with flat bars for better agility and cornering in stop-start traffic. The alloy frame used at the heart of each Discovery is strong, stiff and pretty light - this is not a racy hybrid, but rather a relaxed hybrid for taking in the scenery.
The top-of-line 601 model comes with carbon blade forks for improved front-end stiffness, and also helps to minimise road buzz travelling up the bars into your hands. It also features a triple butted frame to save extra weight for nippy handling and agility.
Good quality Shimano drivetrains feature on every model, providing you long-lasting performance from one of the world’s best bike component manufacturers. There are even two models (501 and 601) of the Discovery which feature hydraulic disc brakes for powerful stopping in all weather and ground conditions. Hydraulic disc brakes at this price point are not common on hybrid bikes - especially the £550 Discovery 501.
700c rims clad in quality tyres help to keep you rolling swiftly and efficiently, but again the higher up the models you go the better equipped the bikes are. As rims and tyres make such a difference to your ride experience, we recommend you choose the best-equipped model you can afford.
