The Merida Ride is a very popular road bike, designed for speed and comfort. There are two carbon disc models in the line-up allowing you train year round with improved braking modulation and performance in all conditions.

Ride with skinny tyres in the summer, and then when the winter changes fit up to 28mm tyres. There's even mudguard fittings to catch wet and dirt.

Frame & Components

Merida has done an excellent job on the frame. Made from carbon composite it is super light, stiff and strong - ideal for a road bike. But as this is something for longer rides, and to ride on more than just tarmac, comfort has been added through various features.

Profiled flex stays on the rear triangle, of the carbon frame, reduce vibration traveling through the frame, so you're muscles are less fatigued as you ride. The fork also receives extra attention with double chamber technology. Through the centre of the fork a reinforcing rib allows for some comforting flex whilst remaining laterally rigid.

The tapered steerer tube keeps the front end stiff which, combined with the full carbon fork, gives precise steering and confident handling in the corners. The carbon fork also helps to reduce road buzz.

Internal cable routing keeps the lines clean, whilst also protecting them from damage. A 15mm bolt through the front axle helps to improve front end stiffness and steering precision.

Components

Gearing and shifting comes courtesy of Shimano Tiagra which is reliable and durable. The rear mech is actually Shimano 105 for additional crisp performance. Merida's own Cimp 22 disc rims with Maxxis Dolemites tyres provide smooth and durable rolling.

However, the greatest addition is the use of Tektro Mira mechanical disc brakes. With powerful 160mm rotors you'll stop consistently and reliably in all weather and terrain conditions. This opens up varied training and seasonal riding conditions to train in.
