The Ride is Merida's comfort racer, and the ideal companion for sportive racing, fitness and leisure. The Ride 5000 is the only Carbon Pro model in the line-up. This is a machine developed to tackle demanding courses like the Paris-Roubaix, so it is very strong. And, forgiving to keep you in good shape.

Frame & Fork

The frame is made from very light, stiff and strong carbon fibre - ideal for road racing. But, to add a little extra comfort Merida use Bio Flax fibres woven into key areas of the frame. Why? Because Flax fibres have natural vibration damping properties.

Profiled flex stays on the rear triangle, of the carbon frame, reduce vibration traveling through the frame, which helps to reduce fatigue while riding.

Geometry has been optimized for comfortable racing thanks to a slightly higher front end and shorter reach. This results in an efficient and confident riding position for those long distance rides over rough road surfaces.

To add strength to the frame, Merida use something called Nano Matrix Carbon, where nanoparticles are added to the carbon and epoxy resin. The frame is claimed to be 40% more impact resistance - ideal on those cobbles.

The full carbon fork is lightweight and helps to reduce road buzz. With a tapered steerer the fork is very stiff and offers precise, confident handling.

Components

The Ride 5000 comes with performance spec too. The biggest talking point are Shimano Ultegra shifters and derailleurs for extremely crisp and precise performance. These components are very durable too.

A racer designed for rougher terrain needs strong and reliable wheels. The 5000 comes with the sturdy Fulcrum Racing 7 rims and Continental Grand Sport Race kevlar bead tyers. These will keep you rolling smoothly.

Another great addition has to be the carbon seatpost which both reduces weight and improve comfort. The natural dampening of carbon limits muscle fatigue, keeping you feeling fresher for longer.
