Fast, light and capable. The Merida Big Nine 7000 is a cross country race 29er that is fast rolling on rough and smooth terrain alike. Based on the Multivan Merida team's, 29" wheeled, race bike, with a carbon composite frame, this is a bike for riding fast up the hills as well as down. The lightweight frame uses both high and low tensile fibres for stiffness where it is needed and compliance where it is appreciated. The fibres are bonded using a resin that has added nano particles which improves impact resistance by up to 40% helping to protect the frame from stone chips.

The frame has carbon dropouts and full internal gear cable routing. A tapered 1.5" head tube and 12mm bolt through rear axle provide extra stiffness and help to keep the wheels tracking straight and true.

A Fox 32 Float fork offers buttery smooth suspension performance on technical terrain and the tapered steerer adds stiffness. Compression and rebound damping are both adjustable so the fork can be set up to suit individual rider preferences and specific riding conditions. With 3 preset compression settings, adjustable with a remote lever, you can set the fork to be full active on technical terrain, stiffen it up a bit for smoother sections or lock it out for efficiency while climbing.

The full Shimano XT 2x10 speed drivetrain offers clean, crisp and reliable shifting over a range of gears perfect for fast xc riding. Shimano XT brakes offer outstanding single finger control with superb modulation. The brake pads have heat reducing fins which mean that you don't need to worry about the brakes overheating even on the longest descents.

The Fulcrum Red Power wheelset with externally butted rims is light in all the right places and accelerate quickly.. for 29" wheels that is. They are strong enough to clatter through rock gardens, have an almost silent freehub and the bearings have a reputation for superb long-term smoothness.

The Big Nine 7000 is a seriously quick 29er that is a great choice for all fast cross country riding.
