Frame & Suspension

Key to the ride quality and performance of the X-Control is that strong and stiff alloy frame. This frame is new for 2015, and is built around the new 27.5” (650b) wheel size. The angles are optimised to let you tackle technical sections, whilst staying nimble and responsive. A 73.5 degree seat angle is ideal for climbing in the saddle, and a 68 degree head angle is more relaxed than you on an XC bike - but not too slack.

The X-Control 327 is best for singletrack and long distance XC routes. It’s a solid climber and ideal for smooth man made trails. When the trails get rowdy the 327 may be a little out of its depth.

You get a Rockshox Recon Gold fork with 120mm travel upfront. It’s very reliable and consistently performs, time and again. It’s also lightweight and comes with remote lock out stop the fork bobbing when you’re climbing. The fork can also be easily adjusted for different rider weights.

The FPS2 100mm rear shock with rebound damping is a key feature of the 327. It’s a virtual pivot point as the rear wheel is linked to the frame with two linkages, and the rear wheel doesn’t move in a circular path in the way a single pivot does. Instead, the rear wheel path is perpendicular to the chain line.

This is great news are the suspension acts independently from pedalling. In other words there is no pedal kickback. You can keep cranking away in the saddle. This is active suspension that tracks the ground impressively well. You can conserve energy to go for longer, more epic rides.

The suspension remains active under braking and doesn’t stiffen up. Other frame features include a tapered head tube for precision cornering, and a super stiff 12mm bolt through axle.

Components

Shimano’s 2x10 XT/Deore drivetrain is a performance system, designed for technical riding. A wide range of gears and simple gear selection makes the 327 more enjoyable and efficient to ride.

Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes give you all the stopping power you’re going to need. The 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors provide consistent braking in all weather and ground conditions.

Mach1 Neo 27.5” rims wrapped in Schwalbe Rapid Rob tyres keep you rolling and are pretty much bombproof.
