Giro Switchblade DH Full Face MTB Cycling Helmet
The Giro Switchblade convertible full-face helmet is ready for the most rugged DH runs with the chin bar attached, and trail loops with the chin bar removed. Giro’s Switchblade DH MTB helmet passes very rigorous ASTM downhill testing standard (with and without the chin bar).
This versatile full-face helmet also utilises MIPS to reduce rotational impact forces on your brain. You also get 2 removable visors. The POV Plus visor is ideal for use with goggles, while the spare is handy for camera mounting.
Giro’s Roc Loc Air DH fity system sits securely at the base of your skull and offers excellent retention, while 20 vents help to keep you cool on hot rides. A class leading helmet, built for the down.
Review | 5 / 5
“Giro's Switchblade breaks from the traditional take on convertible full-face / half-shell helmets. The unique moto-trials look is certain to garner glances from fellow riders, but it's the helmet's safety ratings, useful features and ease of use that make this helmet a category leader.” – Bikeradar

Giro Switchblade
Built For The Down
The Switchblade MIPS is our new ASTM downhill certified full-face helmet with a removable chin bar. Everything about the Switchblade is optimized for the descent, and that’s why it’s certified to CPSC,
EN-1078 and ASTM-1952-DH with and without the chin bar. The chin bar is easy to remove just push the buttons under the chin bar, rotate up, and remove and it’s just as easy to reinstall. The Switchblade MIPS features the new Roc Loc Air DH fit system, which has a bumper around the dial to prevent accidental adjustments if your helmet contacts your backpack or neck brace all while keeping you cool. When the chin bar comes off, Wind Tunnel cheek pad ventilation adds even more cooling power as you start to climb.
Plus, the full-cut style gives this helmet an aggressive look and offers ASTM certified coverage even when the chin bar is removed. When your ride is all about descending, your helmet should be too, and the Switchblade MIPS is the only removable chin bar helmet that is truly built for the down.
Occasionally, without notice, manufacturers change product design and/or specifications.
Giro Helmet Size Guide
How to measure your head size
To find the circumference of your head, place a tape measure in the centre of your forehead, wrap it around above your ears and around the back of your head. If there's a slight difference between two different sizes, always go for the tighter size.
Giro cycling helmets are adjustable so will fit a range of head sizes. Once you know the circumference of your head, select an appropriate helmet size. For example, if your measurement is 57cm then a size M (55-59cm) or a One Size (54-61cm) will fit you.
