Frame

Giant are expert manufacturers of composite frames. The XTC Advanced 2 comes with a composite frame using high grade T-700 carbon fibres. The frame is handmade in Giant’s own factory. It’s very light and stiff where it’s needed and compliant where it is desired.

The front triangle is moulded as one piece then joined to the seat and chainstays. Monocoque construction like this means less material is needed to get the required ride quality, strength and stiffness.

A precisely engineered rectangular downtube combined the steering stiffness of the Overdrive 2 steerer tube and pedalling stiffness of the PowerCore bottom bracket.

Overdrive 2 features oversized headset bearings and a tapered steerer tube for precise front-end steering. The PowerCore oversized bottom bracket and chainstay areas massively improve pedalling stiffness for efficient power transfer and rapid acceleration.

Internal cable routing and internal seatpost clamp keeps the lines clean. The frame also allows for a choice of 142mm or 135mm thru-axles. This gives you more choice when upgrading wheels.

Suspension

This hardtail comes with a RockShox Recon Gold 29 fork which is lightweight with reliable / consistent control. 100mm travel takes out the harshness of rough conditions. A 15mm thru-axle and tapered steerer improves stiffness for efficiency. Adjustable rebound damping and lockout are two worthy features of any good fork.

Components

Equipped is a Shimano SLX/Deore 2x10 speed drivetrain matched to Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. The package is efficient and reliable and capable for cross country riding.

Giant’s own wheels are quality and Schwalbe Racing Ralph tyres are fast rolling to make the most of the 29er wheel size.
