Frame

Where you get most of the value with the XTC is the super high quality frame. Only high grade T-700 fibres are used. The frame is very light and stiff where it needs to be, but compliant where it is desired. This is a bike for those wanting the efficiency and low weight of a hardtail but who appreciate the need for a compliant rear end for comfort and traction.

The monocoque construction uses less material to achieve the desired ride quality, strength and stiffness compared to a traditional frame construction.

Giant have packed the frame with features including the precisely engineered rectangular downtube that works alongside the OverDrive 2 steerer and PowerCore bottom bracket for great lateral rigidity.

The OverDrive 2 steerer uses oversized headset bearings and a tapered steerer tube to improve front-end steering precision. An oversized bottom bracket and chainstay area called PowerCore provide a stiffer platform to transfer every watt of power through the pedals.

Internal cable routing and internal seatpost clamp keeps the lines clean. The frame also allows for a choice of 142mm or 135mm thru-axles. This gives you more choice when upgrading wheels.

Suspension

Matched to the frame is the excellent Fox Float Factory CTD fork with 100mm plush travel for taking on rougher terrain. Factory is a performance line from Fox and comes fitted with the excellent FIT damper for improved sensitivity and big hit performance.

A remote lever on the handlebar allows you to change the fork’s performance on the fly with 3 levels of compression and rebound adjustment - Climb, Trail and Descend.

Components

The Shimano XT 2x10 speed drivetrain is a high level performance setup with super crisp shifting performance in a light package. Shimano XT brakes are powerful with a great feel, with all weather performance with minimal maintenance needed.

Giant composite wheels with carbon fibre rims are very stiff and lightweight for improved acceleration. 142x12mm Thru-Axle makes for a much stiffer rear wheel assembly.

A composite carbon seatpost absorbs road buzz from travelling up the frame and into your muscles, so you can stay in the saddle for longer.
