Giant Rapid 1 2016 - Road Bike

Fast urban commuting and fitness training is what the Giant Rapid 1 was built for. Geometry is comfortably stretched, for speed, while the flat handlebar improves visibility and enhances control.  

Frame & Fork

Key to the rapid acceleration and sharp reactions of the Rapid 1 is the Aluxx SL grade aluminium frame which is lightweight and has a high performance strength to weight ratio.

Double butted tubes remove any excess weight by shaving away unneeded aluminium from within the frame. The frame is lighter yet just as strong and stiff for a quicker ride. The Overdrive steerer tube gives you a stiffer front end and excellent precision steering - something you’ll want on compact urban commutes. This is the same frame as you’ll find on the Giant 0.

The aluminium fork comes with carbon fibre composite blades to help soak up vibrations from the road. This makes for a more comfortable ride feel.

There are also lugs for mudguards and racks, giving the Rapid 1 extra practicality. Carry all your essential ride gear in panniers, and stay clean and dry with mudguards.

Components

Equipped is a Shimano Tiagra 10 speed drivetrain with an FSA Omega compact double chainset. This gives you the same range and speed as you get on a road bike. Tektro hydraulic disc brakes are powerful and reliable in all weather conditions. They also have a great feel for confident speed control.

A composite seatpost helps to absorb road vibrations leaving you feeling less fatigued on longer rides.

Good quality Giant SR2 disc specific wheels are matched with puncture resistant tyres for hassle free riding. These tyres are 28mm wide offering a great a balance between speed and durability.
