Frame & Fork

Experience just how great a carbon composite frame can be. Only high performance grade raw carbon fibres are used, chosen for their ultra high stiffness to weight ratio. Vibration damping particles in the resin reduce fatigue on long-distance epics.

The front triangle is built as a single piece and then joined to the rear stays. This means an outermost composite sheet is not needed, shaving extra weight off the frame. Ride quality, strength and stiffness is not affected.

Key to the ride feel is the proven geometry with a taller head tube and shorter top tube that puts you into a slightly more upright riding position, yet still efficient. All Defy models share the same geometry.

Keeping you in the saddle for longer are compliance enhancing features such as ultra thin and flattened stays, These are vertically compliant to absorb road buzz. A D-Fuse SL seatpost offers more fore/aft movement than traditional round profile for added comfort. Lateral and torsional stiffness are maintained for efficient power transfer and precise handling.

Improving stiffness upfront is a full composite fork with OverDrive 2 steerer that greatly improves steering precision. An oversized PowerCore bottom bracket improves lateral stiffness so more of your power goes straight through to the wheels.

Components

With the Defy Advanced Pro 1 you’re getting a Shimano Ultegra Di2 11 speed groupset with Ultegra compact cranks and a close ratio cassette. Di2 is pro level with ultra fast shifting and reliable performance, every time.

Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are power and reliable in all weather conditions. These brakes also have great modulation so you can manage your speed with precision. Giant’s own lightweight carbon composite SLR 1 disc wheels are designed to massive acceleration and speed.

The Pro comes with Giant’s chainstay integrated wireless data transmitter - RideSense. This removable transmitter sends wheel speed and cadence information directly to any ANT+ compatible computer.
