Cube Stereo 120 HPA 29 Mountain Bike 2015 - Full Suspension MTB

The Cube Stereo 120 HPA is a full suspension 29er trail bike that’s very capable on singletrack, long distance XC adventures and trail centre loops. The 120 is for trail riders who want the fast rolling capabilities and improved grip of the 29er wheel size.

Frame

The 120 HPA comes with a 7005 superlite aluminium frame which has been triple butted to shave off every unnecessary gram. Advanced Mechanical Forming (AMF) optimises the tube cross sections for the best possible strength to weight ratio.

It’s these features along with a nimble and playful geometry that makes the Stereo 120 such a good all-rounder.

An X12 rear thru-axle system and tapered head tube improves stiffness at both ends of the 120.

Suspension

Cube have gone with Manitou for suspension. The Marvel TS fork offers 120mm travel with remote lockout for efficiency on long smooth climbs. The Radium Expert shock features the same lockout feature.

A 4 bar linkage suspension system, like the Specialized FSR, is a tried and tested design. Cube call it Efficient Trail Control Kinematic (ETCK). This system remains fully active under braking and while pedalling. There is no pedal kickback or pedal induced bob.

Components

Shimano’s XT 3x10 speed drivetrain is a conventional setup for MTB offering a very wide range of gear options, making climbing easier. This is matched to powerful and reliable Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors.

Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres strike a good balance between grip and rolling resistance.
