Giant Avail 3 Womens 2015 - Road Bike

The Giant Avail 3 is a quality women’s specific road bike at a great price. This is a versatile road bike for all types of on-road riding, but best used for endurance riding. An all female design team have built the Avail 3 up from the ground to cater for women riders. Think Giant Defy but with a shorter top tube and tube shapes that add compliance for smaller riders.

You can buy the Giant Avail 5 through a Cycle to Work scheme for even better value. The Avail would make a great commuter bike too.

Frame

Key to performance is an ALUXX grade 6061 aluminium alloy frame. It’s single butted and press formed to make a frame which is strong, stiff and light - ideal for road cycling. The ride is fun, agile and responsive.

Up-front you get an Advanced Grade composite fork. Carbon composite has natural road buzz dampening properties. It’ll soak up road vibrations for a more comfortable ride. This is the same fork featured on the Avail 2 and Avail 1.

Giant have improved stiffness in two key areas - the steerer tube and bottom bracket area. The OverDrive tapered steerer fork improves steering precision. The PowerCore bottom creates a stiffer platform for improved pedalling efficiency.

Components

Matched to the frame is a Shimano Sora 18 speed 2x9 drivetrain. You get plenty of range and a smooth transition between gears. The set-up is reliable with crisp shifting. Giant’s own brand S-R2 wheelset is a quality option at this price point, and the same set-up as the Avail 2.

The Avail 3 comes spec’d with women’s specific features. A shorter reach to the brake levers and a narrower profile handlebar means you feel less stretched out. Also equipped is a women’s saddle that’s designed to fit the female form. It’s more comfortable so you can stay in the saddle for longer.
