Giant Avail 1 Womens 2015 - Road Bike

The Giant Avail 1 is one of the best all-round women’s road bikes for under £1,000. A light ALUXX SL frame with carbon composite fork and seatpost combine into a capable machine. Ideal for endurance riding but versatile, you can commute or just ride for fun.

An all female team designed and built the Avail 1 from the ground up for women riders. Think Giant Defy, but with female friendly spec, a shorter top tube and modified tube shapes - for smaller and lighter riders.

Frame

The Avail 1 is built with Giant’s ALUXX SL (6011) aluminium alloy which is very light with a great strength to stiffness ratio. Weight is further reduced with double butting, by removing excess material from inside the frame tubes. This creates a ride which is agile, responsive and enjoyable.

Matched to the alloy frame is a composite fork. Composite has natural vibration dampening properties which soaks up road buzz for a more comfortable ride. When matched to the OverDrive tapered steerer, steering precision improves greatly - adding to its commuting potential.

The PowerCore bottom bracket is oversized to create a stiffer platform. You get improved pedalling efficiency for explosive acceleration and making it easier to maintain rapid speed.

Components

Equipped is a 20 speed 2x10 Shimano 105 drivetrain. 105 is widely regarded as a performance system thanks to its crisp shifting performance, reliability and feel - all wrapped up in a lightweight package. An 11-32 cassette provides a wide range of gears with close spacing for smooth changing.

New for 2015 is a composite D-Fuse seatpost with just the right level of deflection built in for comfort without sacrificing efficiency. This is the same seatpost as used on the high performance Advanced 1 model.

Giant’s own P-R2 wheelset is lightweight and smooth rolling.

The Avail 1 comes spec’d with women’s specific features. A shorter reach to the brake levers and a narrower profile handlebar means you feel less stretched out. Also equipped is a women’s saddle that’s designed to fit the female form.
